Biography:
Trish Stratus never grew up wanting to become a Wrestler, although she had always been an athletic character, Trish’s first steps towards her WWE career was when she decided to become a female bodybuilder. After seeing comical depictions of female bodybuilders in a magazine she saw it as a realistic career or hobby. Her fitness trainer Scott Able assisted Trish in her fitness, weight and gymnastics training. He also found her a modeling job with her biggest achievement coming in 1998 being a regular in the MuscleMag magazine.
Although she had no wrestling background, because of her fitness, athleticism and strength the WWE were more than happy to begin talks over a full time contract with the business; and it was on November 25th 1999 that Trish signed a contract with the WWE. She was not thrown straight into the spotlight though, as she was sent away to Toronto with trainer Ron Hutchinson to learn the basics and not so basics of wrestling, and the entertainment factor of the industry. She proved to work very hard and the WWE was very proud with her progress and all she had learnt so far, so on March 19th 2000 Trish made her WWE debut on Sunday Night Heat, seemingly making an alliance with Test. She then the next night appeared on RAW to again focus on Test and formed the commanding tag team T&A (Test and Albert). After being in T&A’s corner for many matches it was on June 20th of that year that she had her in ring debut, for the first time the world saw Trish as a wrestler as she teamed up with T&A to defeat the Hardy Boyz and Lita. Trish then went on to form another useful alliance with the female favorite, Val Venis. Whilst managing Val, he managed to pick up the Intercontinental title. As for Trish in the ring, she began feuding with Lita, which involved Lita being thrown off a 10 ft ladder, and an Indian strap match, which Trish won. She also teamed with Val in mixed gender matches and it was in one of these that saw the end of her relationship with him, as due to her being pinned, Chyna was awarded his IC title. Wrestlemania XVII saw her have the guts to cross a McMahon as after being associated in Vince’s personal life, and being kissed by him in front of Linda, she had had more than enough and on the grandest wrestling event of the year gave him a slap he will never forget!
The 2001 Survivor Series saw Trish over come Ivory, Mighty Molly, Jacqueline, Jazz, and Lita to claim the vacant WWF Women's championship, an incredible step forward for someone who had not been wrestling for much more than a year. This was by far her biggest achievement. This high position was recognized by one of the all times greats The Rock as they teamed up to defeat Kurt Angle and Vince McMahon in a tag match. After losing the title, her next title victory was when on the 6th May 2002, she became the third female Hardcore champion for a very short while. She then went on to win the Women’s championship for a second time in her hometown of Toronto on May 13th 2002. Her third title victory came at Unforgiven 2002 when defeating Victoria. Wrestlemania XIX saw one of Trish’s toughest and to every fan, interesting matches as she faced the ever-toughening Jazz and quickly rising Victoria. Despite being victimized by the two other Divas, came out on top to capture her fourth Women’s title. She has recently been teaming with ex rival Lita and there is rumor of her taking a heel turn, and possibly her fifth title is not too far away. Being only at the start of her career, we could see a lot more of this talented athlete in the future.
